1. Chairman Victor Abat officially opened the meeting at 5:45pm,introduced himself and acknowledged the first time attendees from Annex for their presence in the meeting.
1.1 He asked everyone to introduce themselves.
1.2 He stated that since the batch is not a board, but just a group, we will drop the Chairman/ Vice Chairman, and instead use President/Vice President to address the officers of the group.
1.3 That this meeting is not the day to form the Mission and Vision of the batch, but to inform everyone to share their thoughts, inputs, ideas on what our Mission and Vision will be. We are not yet a full-fledged group.
1.4 He said that our batch is still in its formative stage as a group, so it will be a help to get feedbacks from other batches. We should prioritize what is best for the batch and find out from other existing batches of their Mission and Vision.
1.5 That Mission and Vision is to bind the group together, and sponsorship is not to be our priority at this point in time.
1.6 Some members expressed their views on the matter:
Goody Esguerra: We cannot create the batch M/V in one sitting, that we are still a young group; that it is a meticulous task to decide on it right away; that we should ask everyone for their views on this matter if we intend to go big time; The M/V should serve as a frame of reference on deciding what will our projects be in the future; that our priority is to get to know each other first and help out batchmates who are in need with whatever support we can give; that it is a good starting point to have some guidelines in order to facilitate and discuss M/V lengthily. If and when we finally decide on the M/V we will meet again.
Dhom: It will be a good idea to have projects like sponsorship (of scholars) later on or in the future; to have more definite M/V goals.
Cristy: Since it is the first time for some Annex batchmates to attend the meeting, some felt shy and inhibited to participate in the free-flowing interaction with batchmates from Main. Right now there are eight(8) active members from Annex, so she suggested that before forming the M/V, we should all get to know each other better and strive to be close to one another as a family. She also announce that it is Minda’s birthday that day.
2. New Business:
2.1 It was agreed that batch meeting will be held every last Friday of each month and quarterly meeting of officers first followed by fellowship and bonding time with members.
2.2 Batch due of Php1,000.00 was set for each members which may be paid on a one-time or installment basis.
3. Other Matters:
3.1 Nestor Rico discussed “The Apprentice Yearbook” Project.
Our batch is thankful for his generous donation and contribution of Php8,000 for the reproduction and reprinting of the first 50 copies of “The Apprentice Yearbook”, with the help of Remy Gabriel.
3.2 Batchmates from the United States and other parts of the world may also order their copy. The yearbook will be for sale at Php250/copy and the proceeds will be used for succeeding rounds of reprinting to be done as demand calls for it. The rest of the money will go to the batch fund.
3.3 A despedida party for Nestor will be held on the 14th of April. It will no longer be in a restaurant or the Chef Brewer as first planned, because aside from being more expensive, the noise there will be too distracting to our bonding and reconnecting time. Hence, the change of venue to the Alumni Room or the AVR in our school. Letter of Request to use the venue will be sent to the Principal by Lorna Callanta.
3.4 The despedida party is open to all Batch ’70 members who wants to join. The food will be catered by batchmate Loida Santos. Pancit, Lumpia, Chicken, BBQ, Salad, and Lechon were suggested to be in the Menu.
3.5 It will be most welcomed to have a Videoke (any one who can bring) so we can listen to/or sing along with those who are musically inclined.
4. Lorna Callanta announced the RMCHSAAI Batches activities. A representative from the batch should attend the Consultative Meeting of the association.
4.1 There are three(3) fund raising activities for which she urge everyone to participate:
a) Bowling Tournament on May 7 to 28. Batches 62, 70 (our Batch), 80 and 89 are lined up to participate in the Division 1, Team C.
b) A Walk for a Cause
c) Golf and Bingo Socials
5. President Vixi Abat reminded everyone to prepare their M/V and will continue to discuss it in future meetings.
6. Meeting adjourned.
